Do you have children in school? Do you give Christmas presents to their teachers and bus drivers? I’m not a teacher, but I’m sure they get a wide variety of presents each year. Some they love and some that are just plain crap. I’m sure they are appreciative of the gift, but they might end up throwing some of them out! Dublin City Schools is a wonderful school district to have your children in! The teachers are caring and hard working. Here are some tips to get your favorite teacher a present they will love!
Let’s start with what NOT to get your teacher!
I have some teacher friends and they say they have plenty of coffee much (cupboards full) so you should probably skip that idea this year! Also, Christmas knick knack or ornaments (unless they are personalized)…and if they have been teaching for a while, they have even more!
So now that we know what not to give teachers…anything that is practical or consumable!
Don’t think that if you don’t get them something off this list that they will hate what you got them or your child will be on the teacher’s bad side. They will indeed be appreciative of anything that you get them. I always want to get people something they really want or I know they will like, so these are some great tips. But the number one thing I would be sure to include with their gift is a nice hand written note – from you and your child thanking them for being their teacher. Be sure to tell them what a great job they are doing (assuming they are J) and how they have impacted your child. They want to hear nothing more than that they are doing their job well and it is paying off.
So, you don’t have to spend a lot of money on your teacher’s gifts, but try to get them something useful and something that expresses your gratitude. After all, that’s what Christmas is all about!

- Any kind of gift card for coffee, treats or lunch.
- Fun, new school supplies – like fancy markers, colored sharpies, post-it notes, blank note cards, double sided tape & stickers.
- Fun smelling hand soap or and sanitizer
- Fuzzy or fun socks
- iTunes gift cards
- Amazon or other bookstore gift card
- Candy or some other type of treat – and if you don’t know what kind of candy your teacher likes, my default is always CHOCOLATE!!
- Favorite Beverage – that is not going to get your teacher sent to the principal’s office ;) Find out what their favorite coffee or tea is and bring that in for a morning treat.
